A playground for the adventurous.

The driest country in Sub-Saharan Africa, Namibia boasts abundant wildlife, dramatic scenery, and a sky full of stars that sparkle each night.

Traverse the most ancient desert on the planet and climb one of the highest sand dunes in the world. Track wildlife in Etosha National Park and explore the largest canyon on the continent. Hop on over to Swakopmund for the best oysters on the planet and watch the waves of the Atlantic crash into the dunes of the desert.

Although known as Africa for Beginners, Namibia will delight both the first-time Sub-Saharan visitor and veteran alike.

Where city and nature both come to life.

Flying from the US to South Africa is quite the journey, so I never expected to visit three times in three years. Each visit has added layers and textures to my experience, and I’ve loved returning again and again.

Every corner of this country teems with life, on land and in the water. Here, the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet creating nutrient-rich waters where you can swim with big fauna and eat the catch of the day.

Cape Town and Joburg bustle with bright skylines that contrast with the sparseness of neighboring countries. With a complex history and rich natural resources, South Africa is a fascinating place to explore.

The land of a million medinas.

Every once in awhile, I travel somewhere that disappoints. Unfortunately, Morocco fit that bill. Whipping through the country already a bit travel-weary was probably not the best setup. But whatever the reason, I found Morocco to be simultaneously overwhelming and underwhelming.

I expected to feast on flavorful foods but quickly grew tired of the homogeneous cuisine. I wanted culture to ooze out of the medinas, but most of it felt kitschy and already co-opted by Disney or overplayed on instagram. The harassment wasn’t as bad as I anticipated, but it still got really annoying. Morocco wasn’t my cup of mint tea, but it sure does photograph well (as evidenced by the many influencers staging their pics).

MOZAMBIQUE

Ocean breezes and exploring under the sea.

Our oceans are filled with such abundant and unknown life, and I fall in love a little bit more with each encounter. Diving in Tofo was no exception, and mother nature really delivered.

Traveling to Tofo is another story and felt more like a necessary evil. But, the water washed away all my travel-weariness. I have only fond memories of my time in Mozambique and only wish I had time to explore more.
